They need different work and they take different lengths of time, and the free diagnostic exists to tell you which one you have before you commit to anything.
What comes in, and which kind of fault it usually is

Clicking or grinding with files going missing means a failing drive, and that one is urgent in a way the others are not - every hour it stays powered on is a chance to lose more. Bring it in before you try anything else.

We establish first whether this is a hardware fault or a software one, because that single answer changes the work, the price and the time.
Data first, where a drive is involved
If the drive is failing, protecting what is on it comes before repairing the machine. We talk to you about that before anything else happens.
Written quote
Given on findings, before any work starts, and approved by you.
The repair
Component replacement, cleaning and re-pasting, drive replacement and migration, operating system work or malware removal, depending on what the diagnostic found.
Testing
Machines are tested running under load, not just booted, so a thermal fault does not walk back out of the door with you.
Handover
We show you the machine working, and the warranty runs from that day.
How long a computer repair takes
Common computer parts are stocked, though not all of them - there is too much variety in machines to carry everything. Call ahead with the model if you already know what has failed.
Software work is bounded by how much data has to move rather than by parts.
Either way, expect to leave the machine with us rather than wait at the counter.
The rule is the same across everything we repair: common devices and common parts are same-day, usually 30 to 45 minutes while you wait. Rarer devices and less common parts are ordered, which means 24 hours or more.

30-day warranty on every repair and sale. 6-month and 1-year warranty options available.
What makes the price go up or down
We do not publish a fixed price for this repair, because the price depends on what we find once the device is open.
You get a written quote after the free diagnostic, and nothing is started until you approve it. If something beyond the original fault turns up during the repair, we stop, tell you what we have found, and quote again before we go any further.

Do you work on Macs as well as PCs?
Yes, both, and desktops as well as laptops.
Will I lose my files?
That depends on the fault. Where the drive is healthy, no. Where the drive is the fault, protecting your data becomes the first job rather than an afterthought, and we talk to you about it before we start.
My computer is slow. Is it worth repairing or should I replace it?
Worth finding out before you spend on either. The diagnostic is free and we will tell you honestly if the machine is not worth the repair - that answer costs you nothing here.
Can you remove a virus without wiping everything?
Usually, yes. A full wipe is a last resort rather than a first move, and we will tell you which one your machine needs.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome at all five stores.
